LG Display is set to make a major statement at CES 2026, unveiling a lineup of next-generation OLED panels that push the boundaries of speed, size and visual performance. The company says the new products, many of them first-of-their-kind globally, are designed to meet surging demand from gamers and premium display users as OLED technology continues to move into the mainstream.
One of the most eye-catching announcements is a new 27-inch gaming OLED panel capable of reaching a refresh rate of 720 hertz — a level never before achieved with OLED displays. Scheduled to be showcased at the annual technology expo in Las Vegas from Jan. 6 to 9, the panel is aimed squarely at competitive gamers who demand extreme responsiveness and ultra-smooth visuals.
Refresh rate refers to how many times a screen updates its image each second, and at 720 updates per second, LG Display’s new panel sets a new benchmark for the industry. The display also boasts an exceptionally fast response time of just 0.02 milliseconds, allowing pixels to change color almost instantaneously. Compared with traditional LCD panels, this is dramatically faster and helps eliminate motion blur, screen tearing and ghosting during fast-paced gameplay.
Beyond speed, LG Display is also expanding the scale and resolution of OLED gaming screens. At CES 2026, the company plans to introduce the world’s first 39-inch OLED gaming panel with a 5K2K resolution. This ultrawide display features a pixel count of 5,120 by 2,160 and a 21:9 aspect ratio, offering significantly more screen real estate than standard UHD displays. Its curved form factor is designed to increase immersion, particularly for simulation and open-world games.
In another industry first, LG Display will reveal a massive 270-inch OLED panel with 4K resolution and a 240-hertz refresh rate. The panel uses an RGB stripe pixel arrangement, in which red, green and blue subpixels are aligned in straight rows. This structure improves color accuracy and sharpness while reducing issues such as color fringing, even when viewed up close — a key advantage for large-format displays used in commercial, exhibition or luxury home environments.
Company executives say these innovations highlight LG Display’s strategy to lead the high-end OLED market by focusing on technical excellence rather than incremental upgrades. With gaming monitors, premium TVs and large-scale displays all seeing rising interest in OLED, the firm is positioning itself to capture new growth starting in 2026.
“Our goal is to deliver the features that gamers and display enthusiasts have always wanted — faster refresh rates, sharper resolution and near-instant response times,” an LG Display official said. “As OLED adoption accelerates, we plan to aggressively expand our presence with technologies that redefine what displays can do.”
As CES 2026 approaches, LG Display’s upcoming showcase signals that OLED is entering a new phase — one defined not just by image quality, but by unprecedented speed and scale.
