Nexon delivered its strongest first-quarter performance on record, fueled by rising international demand for its major gaming franchises and continued expansion beyond its traditional East Asian markets.
The gaming company reported quarterly revenue of 152.2 billion yen, while operating profit climbed to 58.2 billion yen. Net profit also surged sharply, reaching 57.2 billion yen. All three figures marked record highs for the company’s first-quarter performance.
The strong results highlight Nexon’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its global footprint, a strategy the company emphasized during its recent Capital Markets Briefing earlier this year.
A major driver of growth came from overseas markets outside China, with revenue from North America and Europe rising dramatically compared to the previous year. Other international regions, including Southeast Asia, also recorded substantial gains, helping overseas business account for more than 60 percent of Nexon’s total revenue.
The company’s performance was led primarily by the continued popularity of the MapleStory franchise and growing interest in the shooter title ARC Raiders.
Revenue from the MapleStory franchise increased significantly as newer titles within the series attracted more players globally. Nexon said games such as MapleStory: Idle RPG performed particularly well in North America, Europe and Southeast Asia following their international launches.
Meanwhile, MapleStory Worlds also recorded strong growth, supported in part by seasonal content updates that boosted user activity in several regional markets.
Industry analysts say Nexon’s results reflect a broader trend in the gaming industry, where companies are increasingly relying on globally recognized intellectual property and live-service models to sustain long-term growth.
The company’s success outside its core Asian markets also signals growing international demand for Korean and Japanese gaming content, particularly among younger audiences seeking multiplayer and cross-platform experiences.
With strong franchise performance and expanding global reach, Nexon appears well positioned to continue competing aggressively in the increasingly international gaming market.
