Nongshim is aiming to significantly expand its international business over the next several years as the company continues to build on the worldwide popularity of its flagship instant noodle brand, Shin Ramyun.
During an event celebrating the brand’s 40th anniversary, Nongshim executives unveiled long-term growth plans focused on increasing overseas sales and strengthening the company’s global presence in the food and beverage industry.
CEO Cho Yong-chul stated that the company hopes exports will account for more than 60 percent of its total revenue by 2030. Nongshim is also targeting annual sales of 7.3 trillion won, along with a double-digit operating profit margin.
The company’s strategy reflects the growing international demand for Korean food products, particularly instant noodles, which have gained popularity across North America, Europe and other parts of Asia in recent years.
At the center of that expansion is Shin Ramyun, Nongshim’s signature spicy noodle product, which has become one of the most recognizable Korean food brands globally. According to the company, cumulative sales of Shin Ramyun have now surpassed 20 trillion won since its launch four decades ago.
To illustrate the scale of the brand’s success, company officials shared a symbolic comparison, stating that if all Shin Ramyun packages sold were placed end to end, they would stretch enough to cover thousands of round trips between Earth and the moon.
The company plans to continue investing in overseas production, distribution networks and product development as it seeks to strengthen its competitiveness in international markets.
Industry analysts say the continued rise of Korean culture and cuisine worldwide has helped boost demand for Korean food brands, with ramen products becoming especially popular among younger consumers seeking convenient and flavorful meal options.
Nongshim’s ambitious export targets also reflect broader trends within South Korea’s food industry, where companies are increasingly focusing on international markets to drive long-term growth amid slowing domestic demand.
With Shin Ramyun remaining a core driver of sales and brand recognition, Nongshim is positioning itself to further expand its role in the rapidly growing global instant noodle market.
